DR. JOAN STARR
WASHINGTON DC CHAPTER CHAIR
Joan Starr joined AWIU in 2004 and participated in the Argentina (2008) and Japan (2010) delegations. She is Chapter Chair Washington DC. See Chapter Events HERE
Here is what she says about her membership in AWIU. "AWIU membership opened up a new world for me."
Dr. Starr received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia.
Since the mid 1970s she has provided services to adults and families through her independent clinical practice in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Because the DC area is very diverse in its population, she has had extensive experience working with a large number of people from around the world. Dr. Starr reflects on her involvement with AWIU. "Travel has always been a learning experience and pastime for me.
Over the years I have visited approximately 60 countries and I have been a member of two AWIU delegations.
I joined AWIU in 2004. Bette Rothstein, (Bernice Behrens Award recipient 2011) sponsored me. She tells me that when I was accepted as a member I said, "Bette, you have opened up a new world for me." I can confirm that statement after all these years of membership"."
Joan is interested in ecology, wildlife and photography.
