Presentations

Keynote speaker Katrina “Kat” Fotovat is the Senior Official in the Secretary of State’s Office of Global Women’s Issues. She leads a team of gender experts promoting gender equity and equality through support for women, peace and security, countering violent extremism, promoting women’s economic empowerment, and combatting gender-based violence.

Panels

“How to Succeed in International Relations Careers” is the topic of a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Sherry Mueller, Senior Adjunct Professor and Lecturer, School of International Service, American University, with panelists Carmen Iezzi Mezzera and Elizabeth Boesen.

Discussion Groups

International Woman of Courage (IWOC) 2017 awardee Fadia Najib Thabet will discuss bringing change to a community, in her case, war-torn Yemen.  Two other discussion groups will focus on bringing diversity to international relations careers, and global Issues effecting non-government and business careers.

Networking

COIR: Women Rising is the perfect environment to network and build your contacts in the international relations, non-profit, advocacy, law, and government sectors. Come meet an exciting group of female leaders, U.S. ambassadors, State Department and business executives, all sharing your passion for IR.

Lunch

Lunch is gratis, courtesy of American Women for International Understanding. Enjoy meeting young women who share your interests, as well as seasoned professionals in diplomacy, advocacy and leadership positions.
