Honoring

The U.S. Secretary of State’s 2020 International Women of Courage

American Women for International Understanding (AWIU) cordially invites you to attend the 13th Annual International Women of Courage Celebration on Monday, March 16th at the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles. Established in 2007, the annual Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award honors women around the globe who have exemplified exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for human rights, women’s equality, and social progress, often at great personal risk. This is the only Department of State award that pays tribute to emerging women leaders worldwide.

AWIU is privileged to collaborate once again with the U.S. Department of State to honor the 2020 International Women of Courage. For the past twelve years, AWIU has hosted an honorary dinner Celebration for the International Women of Courage and provided each recipient with a monetary grant to further her groundbreaking work. As part of its mission to address women’s issues worldwide, AWIU pays tribute to these exemplary women for their inspirational commitment to freedom and human dignity.

Please join us in celebrating the significant contributions of these leaders for their work on global women’s issues.
