AWIU is proud to announce the
International Women of Courage
Alumnae Impact Grant
American Women for International Understanding (AWIU) is thrilled to announce the opening of the 2026 International Women of Courage (IWOC) Alumnae Impact Grant cycle, presented by AWIU. This program is an exclusive opportunity for previous recipients of the U.S. State Department's International Women of Courage Award, recognizing and supporting your continued impact.
As an esteemed IWOC Award alumna, we invite you to apply for this grant designed to support and amplify your ongoing efforts in advancing human rights and supporting women globally. The IWOC Alumnae Impact Grant aims to provide financial assistance to sustain and expand your impactful programs and initiatives.
The 2026 application will open on January 20th and close on March 20th at midnight EST.
Grant Details:
- Grant Amount: Up to $5,000 per grantee.
- Number of Grantees: A minimum of five grantees will be awarded in 2026.
- Application Deadline: Prospective grantees must complete the online application form in English between January 20 and March 20, 2026, and commit to the reporting process. We will send another email on the launch date with the application link.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Alumna Status: Applicant must be an International Woman of Courage Award alumna.
- Purpose: Funds must be used to advance human rights and support women globally. Unlike the IWOC Award grant provided by AWIU, the IWOC Alumnae Impact Grant may only be used for individual or institutional non-profit projects supporting human rights and advancing women. The grants committee will consider specific criteria, including project impact, and sustainability.
- Reporting Requirements: Grantees will be required to submit an interim report and a final report, demonstrating how funds were spent and the impact of the grant.
We encourage all IWOC alumnae to apply. The application must be submitted in English. However, we understand that for many, English is not a first language, so the committee will not evaluate applications based on the quality of the written English but may follow up with questions to make sure there is an accurate understanding of the application during the review and selection process.
To support you in the application process, we will provide a pre-recorded webinar, which will be shared at a later date. This webinar will provide detailed guidance on completing the application. Additional questions can be directed to IWOCAlumnaeImpactGrant@
We are thrilled about the demonstrated impact of this grant program and look forward to supporting your continued efforts in making a difference.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to advancing human rights and supporting women globally. We hope you will consider applying for this grant, and we are eager to review your application. If you have any questions, concerns or feedback, please let us know by email at IWOCAlumnaeImpactGrant@awiu.
The 2026 application will open on January 20th and close on March 20th at midnight EST.
