Katherine E. Bliss is a Senior Fellow and Director of Immunizations and Health Systems Resilience at the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ (CSIS) Global Health Policy Center. Katherine brings her expertise in the social sciences, Latin American studies, and
international relations to her work analyzing U.S. government support for health programs in low- and middle-income countries. She is particularly interested in how cultural perspectives on health shape approaches to such challenges as HIV/AIDS; access to vaccines and immunizations; and safe drinking water and sanitation.
At CSIS Katherine has led the Project on Global Water Policy and the CSIS-LSHTM High-Level Panel on Vaccine Confidence and Misinformation, and she currently directs work on immunizations, HIV, and climate and health for the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security. Previously Katherine served at the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of Oceans, Environment, and Science. She is an adjunct professor at Georgetown
University’s School of Foreign Service. Katherine received her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago and was a David E. Bell Fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies.
