Rita Das began her career at AT&T Bell Labs after earning degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University, later adding an MBA from NYU. After a successful corporate career at AT&T, she transitioned to the nonprofit sector, where she used her technical expertise to help organizations streamline operations. Inspired by her late father’s immigrant journey and legacy, she founded her own nonprofit to empower children and women through education and livelihood programs.
Her latest venture, Village Lift, is a social enterprise dedicated to supporting women artisans and entrepreneurs, with all proceeds reinvested into community projects here and abroad. Rita lives in New Jersey with her husband, Scott, and has two sons, Tyler and Ryan, who live in Boston and Miami. She enjoys running, audiobooks, hiking, and traveling. Lately, thanks to Village Lift, she’s also discovered a passion for designing the perfect dress, collaborating with her friends to bring creative visions to life.
