Sarah is a researcher, advocate, and strategy consultant with over 25 years of experience in academia and the nonprofit sector, largely focused on identifying paths to achieving educational equity in historically marginalized communities. Her areas of expertise include youth advocacy, expanded learning, community partnerships, place-based reform, and philanthropy. She has led national research studies, co-authored a book on youth advocacy organizations, and published numerous articles, book chapters, and reports.
Sarah currently holds several key leadership positions in nonprofit organizations, including the Armory, Pasadena Educational Foundation, the Pasadena Art Alliance, and the Pi Beta Phi Foundation. She co-chaired the 2024 IWOC Celebration after having been so moved and inspired by the several celebrations she attended. She will now serve as chair of the IWOC Alumnae Impact Grant Committee. Sarah cares deeply about helping nonprofits find their strategic direction, increase their impact and effectiveness, and strengthen their community ties and support.
Sarah lives in Altadena and has three sons in college. Outside of her nonprofit work, Sarah loves hiking, playing bridge, traveling, and contemporary art. She holds a PhD in education policy from Stanford, and MA in history from NYU, and an AB in religion from Princeton.
