Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Women Investing in Women Grant Gala on September 21 in Chicago! It was an inspiring evening filled with impactful conversations and powerful presentations. Special thanks to Gala chair Janice Colom and her committee for their vision and dedication.
The keynote speaker was Susan Falatko, Diplomat in Residence Midwest for the U.S. Department of State. Ms. Falatko, who is a career Senior Foreign Policy Officer, highlighted the importance of promoting the rights and empowerment of women and girls as a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy efforts. Other speakers included AWIU Grant Committee chair Marsha Niazmand, Gala and Chicago Chapter chair Janice Colom, AWIU president Nancy Annick. Interim Executive Director Miranda Cohen, and former Passport Kylin Gao. All of the speakers showcased the profound impact of AWIU’s micro-grants on grassroots organizations around the world.
AWIU’s grants are focused on training and empowering women and girls in the areas of education, health and entrepreneurial development. Proceeds from the Grant Gala will allow AWIU to expand the number of grants that can be funded and further the work of community-based organizations across the globe which enhance the livelihoods of women and girls. The widespread participation and support from the AWIU membership and friends made this event truly special. Let’s keep the momentum going as we work toward a brighter, more inclusive future for all!
