Charlotte Milner-Barry attended the 2023 IWOC Celebration at the invitation of new AWIU member Annette Flanigan, was “incredibly impressed by the energy of AWIU,” and joined forthwith. Charlotte is the co-CEO of Makers Strategies, an all-female political fundraising consultancy she founded three years ago. She is a dual national (U.K./U.S.) raised in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and London and speaks basic French and Mandarin.
A certified trainer in family philanthropy with a bachelor’s degree in history with honors from the University of London (SOAS), Charlotte has spoken at several international conferences focusing on multi-generational wealth. She is on the Los Angeles Advisory Board of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP) and Resource Generation (RG). Her career has focused on advising high-profile clients on their philanthropic impact, private foundations on their strategic programming, and nonprofits on board development and visibility. Highlights include building a community of young donors at The Funding Network in London and working with the U.K. government in a public-private partnership with a national nonprofit to create one of the first social impact bonds (SIBs) to help at-risk teenagers find employment. In addition to mentoring young women, Charlotte enjoys cycling and travel. For AWIU, she would like to work on development, program development and grants.
