Chair and Founder, Friends of American University of Afghanistan
Leslie Schweitzer is the Chair and Founder of Friends of the American University of Afghanistan, founded in 2009, a 501c3 that supports not for profit, private, co-educational, non-sectarian higher education in Afghanistan. Schweitzer is a 15-year member of the Board of Trustees of American University of Afghanistan (AUAF).
Over five decades, Schweitzer has accumulated a unique combination of founding businesses in emerging and post-conflict markets and facilitating capacity building projects throughout the world. Schweitzer pioneered U.S.-China trade beginning in 1977 as a co-founder of Noble Trading Company. She has amassed on-the-ground experience in over 20 countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, China, Turkey, Chile, Russia, Caribbean, and Central America. After selling Schweitzer & Associates Trading Company, Schweitzer served as the Senior Trade Advisor for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Among the boards she serves on are the Board of Trustees US Army Command and General Staff College Foundation; Advisory Board Five Star Global Security; and the U.S. Afghan Women’s Council.
